Parramatta RSL has a brand new building known as “Club Parramatta”. The owners and operators of the club, CHRG, used spare land on the existing site to build the new club next to the old one. While the old venue still stands for now, CHRG says it will eventually be demolished.

The new club has been designed to respond to the changing needs of the surrounding community, where it has been operating since 1947. As well as brand new gaming spaces, the modern development features wall-to-wall windows that create a light-filled interior, extensive outdoor terraced areas, and a wide range of entertainment and dining options. These include eateries and bars, live music and sports events, and even activities for children.

To create great-looking and unique interior spaces, the client worked with innovative and award-winning design company EJE Interiors.

A major part of making a great interior was new gaming areas that would have a real impact. For this to happen the spaces needed to be lighter and brighter than their previous ones – which were rather on the dark side. It was also very important that they fitted in the club’s overall interior design in terms of colour schemes, finishes and joinery.

CHRG approached us to do the joinery for the gaming spaces. Throughout the process we worked directly with the company, the designers at EJE and the builders at Paynter Dixon, so that we could come up with custom solutions for the spaces. This involved going over all the possible options that would meet the customer’s brief and fit within their allocated budget.

The process resulted in Arizona bases for the machines and modified Jamaica screens for privacy, these were customised in terms of colours and panel patterns to ensure they fit with the rest of the décor and joinery.

The fit-out solution for the gaming spaces is very personalised to the club and fits in well with the surrounding design themes. CHRG say the feedback from visitors, members and industry personnel has been very positive so far, and that business has grown as a result.

Overall, the club owners and operators said they are very happy with the way our team met all the details of the brief, through tailored solutions that not only look great but also attract new customers. They also indicated that they would happily use the services of Capital Design Works in future similar projects.
